Terms of Service
By installing or using Quitora, you agree to these terms. They're short and written in English.
Last updated: April 17, 2026
1. The agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Quitora ("we", "us") governing your use of our iOS application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). If you don't agree, please don't install or use the Service.
2. What Quitora is (and isn't)
Quitora is a recovery companion app. It offers check-ins, coaching powered by AI, educational content, and tools meant to help you navigate cravings and build healthier patterns.
Quitora is not a medical device, diagnostic tool, therapist, or substitute for qualified healthcare. Nothing in the app — including AI coach messages, weekly summaries, insights, or suggested exercises — constitutes medical advice, a prescription, or a diagnosis. If you are in crisis, seek emergency services or a crisis hotline. If you have a health condition, consult a qualified clinician.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Quitora, or 16 if you are in the EU or UK. By using the Service you represent that you meet this minimum age.
4. Your account
You can use Quitora anonymously. If you choose to sign in with Apple, you're responsible for maintaining the security of your Apple ID. You're responsible for the content you add to Quitora — check-ins, comments, journal entries, and so on.
5. Subscriptions and payments
Quitora offers a premium subscription that unlocks the weekly Therapy Summary and other designated features. Subscriptions are billed by Apple through the App Store. Pricing, renewal, and refund rules are those of Apple's App Store — we don't store or handle your payment card directly.
You can cancel anytime from your Apple ID's subscription settings. Cancellation stops future renewals; the current billing period remains active until its end. Refund requests for App Store purchases are handled by Apple Report a Problem.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Quitora to harass, threaten, or harm another user — for example via comments on the Wisdom Scroll or reports.
- Post illegal content, content depicting self-harm of others, or content that violates another person's rights.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, probe, scrape, or otherwise interfere with the Service beyond what is permitted by applicable law.
- Use the Service for bulk automated querying, resale, or as a data source for third-party products without written permission.
- Submit content that would cause us to breach the terms of our AI service providers (e.g. prompts designed to extract unsafe content from the model).
We reserve the right to hide comments, remove content, or suspend accounts that violate these rules. For severe or repeated violations we may permanently terminate access.
7. AI-generated content
Quitora uses large language models (currently OpenAI's GPT-4.1-mini) to generate coach responses, daily quotes, weekly summaries, and mocktail recipes. AI output can be wrong or misleading. Don't treat it as professional advice and please tell us if you see a response that's inappropriate.
8. Intellectual property
We own the Service — the software, design, brand, and curated content — and grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use it. You own the content you create (check-ins, journal entries, comments) and grant us a license to host and display it as necessary to operate the Service.
9. Your data
How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy. You can delete your account and data from Settings → Deactivate Sanctuary inside the app.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or meet every one of your needs.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Quitora and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for direct damages under these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months prior to the event giving rise to the claim, and (b) USD 50.
Some jurisdictions don't allow certain liability limitations — if you live somewhere that doesn't, the sections that would conflict don't apply to you, and the rest still does.
12. Changes to the Service and Terms
We may update, add, or remove features from time to time. We may also update these Terms. Material changes will be announced in the app and at the top of this page. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Termination
You can stop using Quitora at any time by deleting your account. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms or if continued service would expose us or other users to legal or safety risk.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where Quitora is domiciled, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your jurisdiction apply.
